Description of Caminos Naturales

This itinerary takes advantage of the old layout of the Bajo Aragon Railroad, a project that intended to unite La Puebla de Híjar (Teruel) with Tortosa (Tarragona). Despite not completing the planned route, the line came to work for a few decades, but its low performance, as well as some landslides, made it finally dismantled. This railroad was popularly known "Val de Zafán", denomination that has spread to the natural path.

Description of Vías Verdes

From the extinct Railroad of La Val de Zafán, Puebla de Hijar line to Tortosa, they have recovered, among the towns of Valdealgorfa in Teruel and Tortosa in Tarragona, 83 km continuous as Vía Verde and another 18 km in the Teruel Norte region. A trip following crystalline channels to the great Ebro river by Turolenses regions such as the Matarraña and the Catalan Terra Alta and Baix Ebre between spectacular landscapes plagued by viaducts and tunnels. Protected natural spaces, history, culture and landscape in an exception route dotted with stations recovered with new uses. One of the essentials.
